Music crushes living strong on YouTube
Hi,
My name is ME. And I...
I...
I am a (gulp) a pop music fan!!!
80s
spent it listening to Jason Donovan and Kylie and Cars and Cutting Crew and Paula Abdul and Madonna and Belinda Carlisle and the guys from down under and Duran Duran (in my defense, those were the only ones streaming in Bahrain Radio) and also at one point, to (blush) Olivia Newton John & lots of really rubbish Hindi songs with Dharmendra (ugh) but always, always back to Jason (Too many broken hearts anyone? anyone?)
Jason, I even got into that yawning show Neighbours just for you.
So Jason, did I get drunk last night and grow old?
When did you start looking like Tony Blair?
90s
were all about boys, tons and tons of boys
In the beginning, there was New Kids on the Block
Aaaaah.
Jonathan Knight.
who I crushed on deeply
And who I hoped and prayed and begged to go see on vacation here.
I was taken by father to see Niagara Falls instead.
Jonathan: a giant water fall - nothing compared to you.
Then, in no particular order there were Boyzone, Westlife, East17, Oasis (wonderful, wonderful Oasis) and Aerosmith and Take That and Nirvana and Jon Bon Jovi
and ... Aamir Khan
Aamir, you had me at Papa Kehta Kein (Papa says)
I don't think I even realised that Indian men could be cute till Aamir came along.
Really though, I had this and this to go on and Them (hugely talented but so not crushworthy)
There was also an unfortunate and not to be mentioned ever again addiction to Michael Learns to Rock,
After which came college and real boys to crush on.
I'd like to think that today,
I have progressed from merely liking songs because men with lovely, strong, bare chests are in them.
I like Daniel Powter, even if he's a bit skinny and should never take his shirt off.
Nelly - Loooove her!
Gnarls Barkley - Yummy (music that is)
Gorillaz - animated, nevertheless appreciate their music
And the lovelies on my pod.
But then Sunrayz reminded me of what I have been trying to ignore for sometime now.
That they are back from oblivion
and that there is a part of my heart that is glad, nay ecstatic that they are.
Because there is something so endearing about a pop band from long ago making it all over again!!!
And so heartbreakingly youthful to be thrilled by a silly, uplifting song played a band that you fancied so long ago.
And to know that yes, they still look cute
really, Mark Owen looks so Johnny Deppish in this
Excuse me while I get my top hat and dance along with him,
Take That's Shine
You, you're such a big star to me
You're everything I wanna be
But you're stuck in a hole and I want you to get out
I don't know what there is to see
But I know it's time for you to leave
We're all just pushing along
Trying to figure it out, out, out.
All your anticipation pulls you down
When you can have it all, you can have it all.

Heh heh can't help but agree. The 80's and 90's had wonderful muzac! You should do a post on One Hit Wonders of the 80's and 90's. Or. Hang On. I should do one :P
oh ME, Dharmendra was such a hottie in his younger days...
and i heart POP too! [blush]
Oh I loved Kylie too!! I remember dancing to "The locomotion!". It was a huge hit here in Aus back in the day.
Neighbours is still yawning - it's my on-off show I watch when I'm very bored and then I can't handle the absurdity of it and have to switch it off.
*drool* @ Aamir Khan - that guy was seriously cute as a new actor and then he HAD to grow that mush and divorce his wife. So shattered! Except now there is a guy at uni (Who I think is actually half-Asian) that looks like him...so I'm smitten again :P
I <3 Pop Forever!
silvara - oooh I remember Locomotion. A friendof mine danced to it in school assembly once and i thought she was cool for doing it.
And ditto on drool for aamir.
Desi - I do remember some of my mom's movies with dharmender and Saira banu, i think. He was cute then but in the 80s, he was just ugh
riggs- absolutely!!
mmmm Jonathan Knight
