afterthought - in my opinion - the food an the music are 2 things that ur gueste will primarily remember ur wedding by

the photos and video is what YOU will remember your wedding by - so make sure all of these are exactly to yuour liking....

not saying the rest are not important but they r the details :D

heheh perhaps for an indian wedding, typically the older people don't take in too much of the decorations - at least the family friends (as in aunties/uncles) don't - they concentrate on the food. But that is def one point that EVERYONE regardless of age will notice because most of the time after the ceremony they will be at the tables eating/drinking. For me one indidicator of success was that eveyrone ot up and danced at least once during the night and most people stayed on the dance floor for ages - which is why i think it's important.

I always notice the tables decs and the room decs too (especially during the ceremony - maybe because ur seeing the place for the first time etc) which is why i am saying that they ARE important but after a while, unless something REALLY stood out - food and music will always bring ur wedding back for ur guests.
