I spent half the day showing off the ring and then the other half of the day trying to think of how to explain the difference between being engaged the Indian way and being engaged the Western way.
Somebody in my extended family went FULL CAPITALS on me on facebook
YOU'RE ENGAGED? WHEN WHERE? HOW? TO WHOM?
etc etc

So then I was racking my brains trying to compose a 'oh not the engaged the Mallu way as in exchanging rings and exchanging letters between elders with huge engagement party but rather the accepting proposal from boy and getting ring from him commitment kind of engagement' message

In the end, I said ' screw it ' and ignored questions and took in well wishes
