Going full fledge on the drama queen bizz

Potential drama elements in my life:

  • My job and the associated search for another job: It's been a month and half since I started searching and, I didn't think I was this picky or the associated theywhowantemployees were. With specific salary and locale requirements, add to that the whole work visa sponsorship thing and sundry demands, I am bordering high maintenance here.
This whole trying to get another job is an exercise in excited toil. For one thing, there is no real desperation for it for you already have one. So it is exciting to secretely look for one while you are on a sort of semi-break.
But then you have the whole putting together the resumes and cover lettes. send them out. get the call. getting giggly about fact that you, in middle of bible belt, got call back from peoples in bestcityofthemall, the whole 'your resume warranting attention them' thrill. And then the stressful but secretly enjoyable 'being made to talk about yourself' telephone interview where every inflection of voice and sound is judged. And then the invitation to come to bestcityofthemall to ply your skills. This is where most of the prospects have ended for me. Because couple of days after telephone calls and invitations, you get another call/email that says - oops you know what? We forgot. We don’t do work visas for foreign nationals. So thanks but no thanks!
V. Definitely deflating but most def. doing the onward and upward plough.
  • The Boy's friend wants the boy and I to help choose an engagement ring for him. The underlying tension of the boy not having given me a ring yet, even after 5 and half bloody long years of being together and eight more months to our wedding (at his insistence) is slowly erupting to the surface for me. On broaching subject with boy, I got a smile and referenced glance at his stupid, anal 'ring by Thanksgiving', 'Place booking by December' timeline chart.
Cha, the well dressed friend, was telling me the other day that she has the wedding dress, day and place booked but engagement ring has of yet not made an appearance.

There's nothing like shared misery of friends to give one hope that the universe is not conspiring to not give you an engagement ring.

  • I think I am becoming more like my dad, in that, I want a certain chronological normality to my life. After five years, a ring should appear, a marriage should be proposed, a lavish wedding should be had, a nice apartment with lovely non-hand-me-down furniture should be had, a fulfilling, life altering job should be enjoyed, more traveling to exotic places should be done, etc, etc.
In midst of twirling thoughts, the thunder happened in sunnyelsewhereplace, and the lovely gorgeous full forest of trees around me rustled with strong winds, sun dimmed, rain poured and smell of wet earth rose around me.
Sometimes twirling thoughts of Choronological abnormality can so blind me that I fail to see I am sitting in midst of evergreen forest lined avenues with rumble of ocean in ears, an afternoon appointment with mani/pedicurist with more decadent laying about with long promised catching up on classics.
Can anything warm the cockles of one's heart more? I think not. Hence, for today, am choosing to be non-dramatic and happy.

Oh, its your blog, you can be dramatic. Plus it cracks me up when you are! But, yes, YAY to the happy bit...

Hmmm, I was wondering, maybe the Boy is getting you a ring, this could be his way of making a choose it...
What do you think?

Are you kidding me you guys? It's not about the ring, dudes! It's about the boy making a more than verbal commitment to it. And beside I asked the boy out. I want him to do the grand gesture (as defined by me) as far as the ring is concerned.

We had no money for a ring when Darling Man proposed. In my jewelry box was a beautiful aquamarine that my uncle gave me when I was 12, so I pulled that out, gave it to DM and told him to put it in a very simple setting. It was perfect.
