Random things I mused across this week

1. My giggler of a friend is doing her internship at a hospital.
Today she had to console a 70 year old man who's recuperating from major surgery and has found out he has to gone in for another surgery.
It boggles my mind that there are people out there doing things that directly touch another human being.
No, no, lets be honest. That's not what boggles my mind.
What truly boggles it is that one of those people doing things is SOMEBODY I Know.
And not me.
Sadly, I am that self-centered.
2. Another friend is sorting out her life after a break up.
Yet another is trying to decide on embarking on a relationship that has 50/50 chance of ending in a break up.
A long time ago before the boy, my entire life was devoted to close circle of dear friends - their idiosyncrasies were discussed, love lives dissected, futures plotted.
And then the boy came. And I spent oodles times dissecting us, our combined idiosyncrasies, plotting our future.
And now it's only with the boy's absence that I am getting to spend more time with friends.
3. I love the boy but sometimes the boy worries me .
Like when I read the frightening Nytimes article that 61 percent of babies one year or younger watch TV or videos, with average viewing of more than an hour, the study found.
Roomie's reaction, "Oh my god that's awful"
The Boy's reaction, "That sounds about right. We definetely need the time away to make another one."
4. My friend, RR, the always fabulously dressed one, has concurred with my choices of what I should look like on my wedding day.
That's right.
Despite the fact that the boy and I have yet to tell our parents about each other's existence, I have gone ahead and chosen (but not bought) the sundry outfits I wish to wear on THE day. Suffice to say, I shall look totally glam and put wedded fat COusins with children TO SHAME with hopefully soon to be glam body.
5. Did you know that one of Hugh Hefner's three girlfriends has her Masters and is working on her second Masters? And this I know, because, I watched a couple of episodes of The Girls Next Door.
In my defence though, I have not waited obssessively for it to come on but just happened to come across it while surfing instead of working on research.
Really.
6. After eavesdropping in and seeing from a distance (but not speaking to) the boy's grandma, aunts and uncles, I have come to conclusion that being married to the boy does not mean I will get fabulous, foreign family who will adore my quirky personality
I will simply get another Malayalee- on-the- inside, foreign-on-the-outside family in front of whom I must behave propahly.
Sigh.

You seem to have got your priorities exactly right - the outfit first...and a pox on those people who say beware enterprises that require new clothes! Always, always make sure you have the right clothes:)Don't wait too long to buy the outfit - that's one of the worst pains in the world;) [Yes,yes I am all about the clothes:)]
