Mangoes from home
After 17 years, american desis will finally be able to taste an indian mango . Way to go Mr. Singh!
So our very own maanga is making its way back to the states. I wonder if the humble manga will find its way to the supermarkets of smalltownamerica. If it does, will it taste the same as when ammachi (grandmother) sat me on her lap and got Valliamma, (our blush blush servant - why does that sound so la di da here) to get the salt. It was always with salt and it was always unripe. For years, I never realised that the mango was actually a squishy, sweet fruit. It was always hard and bitter and eaten with salt. And now I will see it here with a sticker, detoxified from all that makes it indian, with four little numbers that will beep its way through the automatic check out counter.

At first, I thought you were referring to Japanese manga(comics). O_o
Then I realized you were talking about mangoes...But I can't even think of a different way to spell it.
Um, how about maanga?
Kerala mangoes rock! :)
MJ.
AAh...maaanga
Shall change it now. Thanks.
